Swiss-German Magazine Exchange / Tauschgeschäft

A few weeks ago Letizia from machetwas.blogspot.de offered to send me some Swiss food magazines in exchange for the German Martha Stewart Living. Deal? Deal! Everyone who knows is aware of my food magazine addiction....so how could I say no? I LOVE food magazines. Whenever we are on vacation I spend hours at the news stand looking for magazines...and I drag home food magazines (and cook books) from every country - even if I can't read them. But I love to explore new ingredients, see different styles of food photography and magazine design...but just have a look on your own. Thank you again, Letizia!

Week 24 with instagram

Impressive clounds on my way home from work on Monday...I skip Tuesday because I posted all images already here. I made some buttermilk bread on Wednesday. And in the evening I joined S to watch soccer. Paxon thought blocking my view might be a good tactic to get food NOW! On Thrusday I hit the thrift store again and was pretty tempted to buy thise old letterpress type cases...otherwise it wasn't my day. Friday it was time to go back to the office. On my way home I picked up some groceries and spotted this cool vintage car and this pretty door... On Saturday I made Lemon Curd. I have no idea why I never made lemon curd before. It's super easy to make and beyond delicious. And I even shared the recipe on kitchenklatsch.com - my long neglected food blog. On Sunday I had cake for breakfast. Otherwise Sunday was been kind of uneventful as this past week in general...

12 von 12 / 12 on 12th of June 2012

Lot has happened since May 12th...so this is what my daily routine looks like on 3 days a week for the past couple of weeks when I spend the day working at my temp job.

I start the day with a shower and apparetly I'm not the only one in our home who wants to start the day like this...after the shower I tried to get some work done at my home office before leaving for work.

Time to leave home and head to the office...

On my way to and from work I love listening to AFN Europe/Bavaria The Eagle and pretending I drive across the US or along the along the California coast instead of driving to work. It's strange listening to an American military radio station and hearing local and international news from their perspective...most days I'm in a hurry and I get something for lunch at the bake shop. In the past three weeks I have probaly eaten more stuff from the bakery than in the whole year so far. And I'm not used to it anymore as I started baking bread earlier this year.

Some notes I took at work. When I came home I cooked some pasta...

...because pasta with butter, ketchup and parmesan is my No. 1 comfort food from my childhood days and my guilty pleasure. But...the cheese had gone bad. UGH! I noticed it too late and it tasted terrible! To compensate my frustration and the disgusting taste I had to eat chocolate for dinner ;) It helped against the first but not so well against the latter...

I had a little nap afterwards and later that evening we made homemade burgers and fries in celebration of the beginning NBA finals...not that I care about Basketball but someone else does ;) Went to bed early and called it a day although I initially planned to put this blog post up in the evening...

Week 23 with instagram

I started Monday turing down a job offer for a permanent position in order to persue freelancing and photography. I spent lots of time thinking about taking the job or not but I want to concentrate on my own clients and focus on my food photography work. When I came home this evening I found an inquiry for a huge photo project in my inbox...I have no idea if it works out or not but it feels like I made the right decision. On Monday evening the light was beautiful outside...

Walking to my car after work on Tuesday...

Wednesday I had a day off from work and went for a little shopping spree. Well, I wish I hadn't as it was quite an unpleasant experience. The sales woman came 3 times into the changing room while I was trying on clothes. Unsolicited. I told her 3 times that I don't need her help and that I tell her if I need her but she kept coming back again and again. WTF!? I wrote a letter of complaint to the clothing store telling them that others might appreciate the sales woman's dedication but I prefer not being bothered in the changing room. I haven't heard back from them yet.

Paxon thinks my bread with cheese smells fantastic...
Thursday was a public holiday where I live which I spent at home with the kitties...Paxon was probably a little too interested in the cheese on my bread!

On Friday I was back at the office. For lunch I had some home baked whole grain/carrot bread.

Saturday was the only day of the week where I didn't work. And besides from hitting the thrift store I did basically nothing all day. This is what I brought home from the thrift store. Lots of cutlery...tow Lufthansa forks and two knives...the little ceramic plant head/vase/guy that has been sitting at the thrift store for weeks...and lots of other kitchen stuff/props.

Spent last night editing images...
On Sunday I was working all day. Among other things I was editing the images from last weeks food shooting. I'm off to the kitchen and need to find something to eat ;)
